New grad pediatric and NICU residencies
Children's hospitals and pediatric units run some of the best-known new-grad residencies, and many hire for the NICU and pediatric ICU as well as general pediatrics. They also draw some of the largest applicant pools.
How to stand out
- Have everything ready before the round opens and apply in the first days. Popular pediatric rounds can close early.
- A pediatric capstone helps most. Work with children outside nursing, such as camps, coaching or tutoring, also counts.
- Ask whether NICU and PICU spots are part of the same application or a separate one, so you do not miss a second round.
What to expect
- Pediatric orientation spends more time on weight-based dosing, family-centered care and age-specific assessment than an adult unit does.
